Stem Cells Clinical Research

More than 100 clinical studies on the use of Stem Cells in the field of neurology have been registered. According to the number of clinical trials on the use of Multipotent Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MMSCs), neurological diseases are in second place after diseases of the bones and joints. Such interest is due, on the one hand, to the high prevalence of neurological diseases and, on the other hand, to the great potential for the use of Stem Cells for treatment. Most of the studies are performed on adult volunteers. However, in the case of cerebral palsy and autism, stem cells clinical research is being done on children. Studies are often carried out using autologous ma isolated from the patient’s adipose tissue or bone marrow. Several studies have used Stem Cells isolated from umbilical cord tissues and umbilical cord blood. Donor material is used in studies that evaluate the possibility of use in the acute and subacute phases of neurological disease.
